Arthritis Therapy

When an individual encounters joint pain they tend to gradually limit the activities they participate in, and before they know it, they have significantly cut down on the meaningful tasks that give them joy.

Occupational therapists help patients understand how to decrease wear and tear on their joints, avoid deformity enhancing positions, and use orthoses to optimize joint function. We also use therapeutic techniques to increase range of motion and strength, which leads to greater independence. Avoiding a sedentary lifestyle and incorporating movement during activities of daily living can add up to better endurance. Movement is the best medicine, and hand therapy can help you get moving again!
